Dutse, Feb. 23, 2017 (NAN) The Suletankarkar Local Government Council of Jigawa says it has trained 429 ad hoc staff for the conduct of the forthcoming polio immunisation in the area.
The Information Officer of the council, Alhaji Daudu Sulaiman, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that more than 64,842 children were being targeted for the exercise.
Sulaiman said the council had received enough doses of the polio vaccine for smooth conduct of the exercise.
According to him, 95 supervisors would conduct the programme in 11 wards of the council.
He further said that 38 special teams would conduct the exercise in markets, schools, motor parks, among other places, to ensure that all the targeted children were vaccinated.
He also quoted the council’s Head of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Malam Wada’u Sulaiman, as urging the personnel deployed for the exercise to ensure that they conducted the programme in accordance with the rules and regulations.
NAN reports that the February round of the polio immunisation will commence on Saturday across the 27 local government areas of the state. (NAN)
