Lafia, Jan. 21, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State on Tuesday donated a new office complex to the Nigeria Police to serve as Command Headquarters in Lafia, the state capital.

Al-makura announced the donation during an inspection of the building, located on Shandam road, Lafia.

He said the donation was is in line with his administration’s policies and drive for physical development of the state capital and the state as a whole.

“I have told the people of the state that the government will soon embark on robust and holistic physical planning of the state capital and the state as a whole to give the state a physical planning in line with international best practices, ” Al-makura added.

He said that relocating the police command to the new site would as well guarantee the security of other government facilities.

“In most developed cities or countries you find out that the seat of power is usually located in a place called security zone like what we have in Abuja.

“The three-arm zone is a popular name where major government establishments or institutions are – the Presidential Villa, National Assembly and court complexes.

“Since I came on board, all my allocations of development projects are within the city with an eye for the three arm zone.

“This is so that we will concentrate all the institutions of government in one place where we can be assured of their security and protection.

“The gesture is to ensure that we are putting foundation for a better future, and that is what prompted me to donate the new structure for School of Nursing to the Nigeria Police Force, to serve as the Force Headquarters of the state,” Al-makura explained.

He said government would commence the handing-over of the building to the police in the state for smooth and effective policing. (NAN)
