Pregnant-woman

Ile-Ife (Osun), Feb. 21, 2017 (NAN) A 29-year-old man, Dayo Adebayo, who allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman by giving her a punch in the face, on Tuesday appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.
Adebayo, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 13 at about 11.45 p.m. at Ehindi Street, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said the accused assaulted a pregnant woman, Mrs Blessing Monday, by punching her in the face and breasts.
“The accused gave her blows and injured her in the process.”
The offence contravened Section 356 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Innocent Akhigbe, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms, promising that he will not jump bail.
Magistrate Risikat Olayemi granted the accused bail in the sum of N5,000 with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said the surety must swear to affidavit of means and also reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
In addition, she said the sureties should produce three years’ tax clearance.
Further hearing in the case has been adjourned to March 20.(NAN)
