Lagos, Feb. 16, 2017 (NAN) A group called “Era of Change Organisation in Nigeria”, on Thursday, held a rally in support of President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos.

The supporters, who converged on Allen Avenue roundabout, Lagos, trekked to Government House, Alausa, chanting solidarity songs like “Sai Baba, Sai Buhari’’.

Members of the group in their large numbers carried placards with different inscriptions like “Say No to Terrorism’’, “We need price control’’, “Boko Haram, Thank you our troops for defeating them”, among others.

The convener of the event, Mr Liberty Badmus, acknowleged the achievements of Buhari and the APC government at both the state and national levels.

He said “we appreciate the work of the present administration both at the federal and state level; in 2015, Nigerians realised that the country was in shambles, going by the level of corruption taking place in both private and public sector.

“We thank God that Buhari came to rescue Nigerians from the menace, through the introduction of anti-corruption crusade and we are happy.”

Badmus said Buhari’s anti-corruption war was not selected as speculated by some section of the society because even the untouchables were now touched and were facing trials in courts.

He commended the president for introducing the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to block leakages in government revenues and urged Nigerians to support it.

He also acknowledged the good works of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State
in infrastructure development.

Dr Akintola Benson-Oke, the Lagos State Commissioner for Establishment and Pension, who addressed the group on behalf of the governor, said he had listened to all that they had said and would deliver the message to the governor for onward delivery to the president.

He said “I have listened to your commendation on the achievements of the
president and the Lagos State governor.

“However, I want to say that any administration that does not tolerate criticisms is doing itself more harm than good.”

According to him, Ambode is the best performing governor in the country.

He said: “Gov. Ambode has natural talent which is the reason he is doing so much in the state.”

A former Surulere Local Government Chairman, Dr Folami Rasaq, told newsmen that the rally was about voice vote of confidence on Buhari and the APC administration. (NAN)
