Insurgency victims hail FADAMA lll Additianal Programme

Malam-Matari (Yobe), Feb.16, 2017 (NAN) Victims of insurgency in Malam-Matari village, Yobe, said that the FADAMA lll Additional Financing project had provided them with opportunities to rebuild their lives.
The victims, who benefitted from the FADAMA lll Additional Financing project, made this known in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
They said that the support provided them with a new hope to resettle and rehabilitate their economic lives instead of street begging.
NAN reports that 40 households that were attacked in the village were provided with assorted food items, a set of three sheep and a ram or a set of one he-goat with three she-goats for animal husbandry.
The FADAMA programmer also supported the beneficiaries with agricultural imput for irrigation farming and rain fed agriculture.
Yakellu Abba, a widow and mother of four, said she lost her husband and everything to the insurgency.
“I was contemplating street begging to take care of my children before this godly intervention came through FADAMA.”
Another beneficiary, Hussaina Yakubu, said she was squatting with her sister also a widow and depended on goodwill from individuals and organisations to survive.
“This assistance from FADAMA will make us to be self-reliant with great economic prosperity,” she said.
Mr Musa Garba, the state FAdAMA lll coordinator, said that 5,320 households in 20 communities from 14 local government areas in the state would benefit from the additional financing programme.
He said the project was to support the victims to restore and improve on their well being, and warned against selling the food assistance and the livelihood materials.
“The programme provides you with an opportunity of self-reliance and economic prosperity to rebuild your lives, you should exploit the potential to restore your livelihoods,” Musa advised. (NAN)
