Ekiti Govt constitutes 8-man panel on Itaji/Ayede land dispute

Ado Ekiti, Feb. 15, 2017 (NAN) The Ekiti State Government has set up an eight-man panel of inquiry to investigate recent communal clash between the two communities of Ayede Ekiti and Itaji Ekit over disputed parcel of land.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the panel is headed by the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye, and the pioneer Chief Judge of Ekiti state.
Ajakaye, who is one of the prominent traditional rulers in the state, who doubles as the panel’s Chairman, was also former administrator of the National Judicial Institute.
Inaugurating the committee, the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Kolapo Olusola, who represented Gov. Ayo Fayose, charged the members to investigate immediate and remote cause of the crisis.
The panel is also to identify perpetrators of the bloody encounters and bring them to book.
It is also part of the panel’s mandate to proffer solutions to the crisis and make other useful recommendations.
NAN further reports that several persons lost their lives within the first two weeks of the land dispute. (NAN)
