Abuja, Feb. 15, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thick dust haze conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday.
NiMet gave the prediction in its Weather Outlook by the Central Forecast Office on Wednesday in Abuja.
It also predicted that the region would have day and night temperatures of 29 to 37 degrees Celsius and 11 to 22 degrees Celsius respectively.
The agency predicted that southeast and southwestern states would experience thick dust haze conditions in the next 48 hours, with day and night temperatures of 35 to 38 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
It also predicted partly cloudy conditions over the South-South region in the morning and hazy conditions over Ikom, Obudu, Ogoja, Uyo, Warri and Ijebu Ode and rain showers over Calabar, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Eket and Lagos axis.
According to NiMet, partly cloudy conditions are anticipated in the morning hours and hazy conditions in the afternoon with day and night temperatures of 35 to 38 and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
It added that “Northern states will experience thick dust haze conditions with day and night temperature values in the range of 30 to 37 and 14 to 21 degrees Celsius respectively.
“Thick dust haze conditions with poor visibility are expected to prevail over the north and the central cities in the next 48 hours.” (NAN)
