Lagos, Feb. 15, 2017 (NAN) An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Wednesday slammed a N1 million bail on a sexagenarian, Alade Akeredolu, who is standing trial for allegedly killing his sexagenarian neighbour, Taiwo Fatai.

Akeredolu was arraigned before Magistrate A.T. Elias for murder.

He directed that the case file should be forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin had earlier said the offence was committed on Jan. 29 at about 8.00 a.m. at No. 11, Gbasemi St., Aga in Ikorodu.

She alleged that the wives of both the accused and the deceased had an argument about how 68-year-old Akeredolu and his family had been disturbing them every day during their early morning devotions.

“The two men emerged from their rooms to settle the quarrel between the two women and in the process, Fatai, 61, was pushed by Akeredolu, who slumped and was confirmed dead after being rushed to a hospital.”

The offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State which attracts death penalty.

The case has been adjourned to March 20 pending advice from the DPP. (NAN)
