Speaker, Katsina State Assembly calls on Nigerians to pray for President Buhari

Katsina, Feb. 14, 2017 (NAN) Alhaji Aliyu Muduru, Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, has called on Nigerians to pray for quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the call on Tuesday in Katsina at a town hall meeting of stakeholders on Primary Healthcare under One Roof (PHCUOR), organized by Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Coalition.

“Nigerians should pray to the Almighty Allah to grant the President good health to enable him come back and continue with policies that will improve the living condition of the citizens and move the country forward.

“He needs our prayers and we need to pray for him and our dear country for the better,’’ he said.

The speaker urged the people of Katsina State to support the administration of Gov. Aminu Masari to enable him achieve his restoration agenda to transform the state.

“Are we doing politics of criticism or development?

“If we are doing politics for development, then, we should support the state government’s restoration agenda.

“The agenda will assist to transform our education, health, agriculture water and security sectors to greater heights,’’ he said.

Muduru assured the stakeholders that the house would soon pass the PHCUOR bill into law to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.

In his remarks, Dr Muawiya Aliyu, Chairman, Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KPHCDA), said the government planned to establish 136 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the 34 local government areas of the state.

Aliyu, represented by Dr Shamsuddeen Yahya, Director, KPHCDA, said that at least four PHC’s would be revived in each local government area to provide healthcare delivery at the doorsteps of the people.

He added that funds needed for the construction of the centres had been captured in the 2017 budget.

Earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi Yar’adua, the chairman, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Coalition, said the coalition comprises NGO’s working with Save the Children.

He pledged that the coalition work to put an end to all forms of child abuse, violence against women, female genital circumcision, child labour and other negative practices against children. (NAN)
