Abuja, Feb. 14, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday,
discharged Helen Ughili, 19, charged with criminal trespass and attempt to commit offence of theft.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, also warned the defendant, a sales girl, and asked police to take her back to her place of work in Jabi, Abuja.

Ughili, of no fixed address, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy that she had no bad intention, that she missed her way and that she was new in Abuja and the roads look the same.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Florence Auhioboh, told the court that Wilson Akin of Kado Estate, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on Feb. 8.

The prosecutor said that on that same date, the security noticed that Ughili criminally trespassed into Kado Estate and attempted to break into a Toyota vehicle before she was arrested.

He said the defendant could not give satisfactory explanation about what she was doing in the estate.

Auhioboh said the offences are punishable under sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
