Mangu (Jos), Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) Gov.Simon Lalong of Plateau has called on the 2016 Batch “B” corps members to contribute positively to their host communities.
Lalong, represented by his deputy, Prof. Sonnie Tyoden, made the call at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Batch “B” stream 2 orientation exercise at the NYSC orientation camp on Monday in Mangu.
The governor reminded them of the laudable impacts made by their predecessors in providing the needed socio-economic development in the state.
“The contributions of your predecessors in the areas of infrastructure development, education and health care delivery, particularly in the rural areas, bear testimonies of the scheme’s relevance.
“I therefore urge you to strive even harder as you go to the various parts of the state for your primary assignments to bring about the needed positive change in the various areas such as human capital development,” he said.
Lalong called on all employers of corps members to adhere to the directive of the Federal government on rejection of corps members.
The governor assured the corps members of their safety in the state.
” I must assure you of your safety and wellbeing will be accorded prime attention wherever you find yourself within the state,” he said.
Mrs Olufunmilayo Akin-Moses, the NYSC coordinator in the state, called on the corps members, especially those posted to the rural areas, to help in tackling major challenges via the community development service projects.
She charged them to be of exemplary conduct and behaviour in all their undertakings as they represented Nigerian youths. (NAN)
