Akwanga (Nasarawa State), Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) An educationist, Mr David Abuluya, has advised students in Nasarawa State to embrace science education for the benefit of societal development.
Abuluya, who is the Proprietor of the Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akwanga town, Nasarawa State.
According to him, many students run away from science related courses which are the key to economic and technological development.
“Many students in the state prefer art and social science courses to the sciences.
“It is in view of this that I want to appeal to the students in the state to embrace science education.
“Science related courses are important to societal development.
“These science courses have led to great technological inventions which have transformed the world into a global village,’’Abuluya said.
The proprietor said that the polytechnic “is well known academically and morally’’.
He said that the institution would continue to initiate policies and programmes that would improve the standard of education in the state.
“We are doing our best in maintaining standard in this polytechnic.
“We also do not tolerate indiscipline, misbehaviour, examination malpractice and cultism among our students,’’ he said.
The educationist appealed to the Federal Government to include private tertiary institutions in its Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) projects.
According to him, extending the benefits of TETFUND to private institutions will boost the level of academic structures in the country.
“It will not only change the physical structures of private institutions but also change academic activities positively,’’ Abuluya said. (NAN)
