Nasarawa (Kano State) Feb.10, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Friday appealed to corporate and individual philanthropists to complement government’s effort toward the development of education in the state.
The governor made the appeal when he visited Government Girls’ Secondary School, Badawa in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
NAN reports that the ongoing visit to schools was part of the week-long activities organised by the Ministry of Education and the Education Promotion Committee, to mark the Kano Basic Education Week.
He stressed the need for well-to-do people in the society to contribute their quotas toward boosting education in the state and the country at large.
According to him, wealthy individuals have great roles to play in promoting the educational sector in the state as government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of educating every child.
The governor lauded the effort of a beverage company for building classrooms worth N50 million in the school and urged other corporate organizations to emulate the company’s gesture.
He commended the members of the community for their active participation in the development of the sector and urged them to maintain the tempo.
Ganduje, who, reiterated his administration’s commitment to educational development, promised to build six additional blocks of classrooms in Tokarawa Primary School to decongest its present population.
NAN reports that the governor had also visited Gwagwarwa, Warure and Dandago Special Primary Schools in Nasarawa, Gwale and Dala Local Government Areas of the state.(NAN)
