Fidelity Bank rewards customers with N8m to boost savings culture

Lagos, Feb. 10, 2017 (NAN) Fidelity Bank Plc has rewarded six of its customers with   N8 million in the fifth monthly draw of the bank’s ongoing “Get Alert in Millions’’ promo targeted at promoting financial inclusion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that of the six winners, four won N1 million each, while two others won N2 million respectively.

Others, however, received consolation prices ranging from refrigerators, generating sets, among others.

Mr Obara Odeghe, the Chairman of Fidelity Savings Promo Committee and Regional Head, Apapa, said that the initiative was to support government financial inclusion and boost savings culture in Nigeria.

Odeghe said that the bank would continue to support the government initiatives toward promotion of savings culture.

“What we have been trying to do over the past nine years is to support the government initiatives and imbibe the saving culture among the populace.

“Beyond that, we are looking at rewarding our customers that have been faithful and loyal to us over the years.

“To qualify for the promo, It is so easy, just open a savings account and grow it to N20, 000 or top up existing account with N10, 000 or more to qualify for monthly draws to win up to N3 million.

“You can also grow your account balance by N50, 000 monthly to qualify for quarterly draws to win star prize of N5 million,” he said.

Odeghe said that the bank planned to give away N105 million in cash to the potential winners, while 138 others would smile home with fridges and generating sets as consolation prizes.

In her remarks, Mrs Chijioke Ugochukwu, the bank’s Executive Director, Products and Shared Services, said that the promo was the bank’s commitment to promote the culture of savings.

Ugochukwu said that there was a correlation between savings and economic  development.

“Savings serves as a veritable instrument for capital mobilisation to finance aggregate investment required for economic growth.

“As an active participant in the Nigerian economy, we are supporting the Federal Government by making savings available for critical infrastructure deployments that would aid socioeconomic development.

“In spite of the tough times, savings is very important and Fidelity Bank will not relent in its efforts to improve the standard of living of customers,” Ugochukwu said.

NAN reports that the initiative was launched by the bank in August 2016 to promote savings culture among the populace. (NAN)
