Sokoto, Jan. 9, 2017 (NAN) The Sokoto State House of Assembly on Thursday approved 15 new Special Advisers for the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that confirmation followed a motion by the Leader of the Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim (APC- Kware), which was unanimously adopted.

The governor sent a list of the nominees to the assembly on Wednesday.

With the lawmakers’ approval, the number of special advisers to the governor will increase to 30 as he had in 2015 appointed 15, who are currently working with him.

In the motion by Ibrahim, he said that the confirmation of the advisers was in line with provision of sections 196 sub-section 1 and 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As amended).

He said that additional advisers would assist the governor in the execution of government policies and programmes for the overall development of the state.

The Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, who presided at the plenary, said that the nominees were confirmed following unanimously adoption of the motion on it. (NAN)
