Ikeja, Feb. 9, 2017 (NAN) Five men charged with conspiracy and armed robbery were on Thursday remanded at Kirikiri prisons by an Ikeja High Court in Lagos.

The suspects are Mojeed Yusuf, 22; Tunji Sodique, 32; Samuel Lubukwo, 26; Lucky Uangbaoje, 22 and Abdullahi Ibrahim, 30.

A sixth accused in the case, 67-year-old Ganiyu Alabi, charged with receiving stolen property, was also remanded at the prison.

The judge, Justice Sedotan Ogunsanya, who did not give a particular reason for remanding the accused, adjourned the matters to April 12 for the armed robbery charge and April 25 for receiving stolen property.

Earlier, the state Prosecutor, Mr Adebayo Haroun, had told the court that the accused committed the offences at about 10.30 p.m. on March 19, 2015, at the Ikotun area of Lagos.

“The defendants, while armed with guns, robbed Mr Ibrahim Nasiru, a resident of Ajah who came to drop off his friend at Ikotun of his Lexus SUV with registration number FKJ928DK, as well as cash of N280, 000.

“Alabi bought the car from the other defendants on March 20, 2015, with the full knowledge that it was stolen.

“The police apprehended Alabi while he was driving the car and he led the authorities to the other defendants,” Haroun said.

He said that the offences violated Sections 295 (2) (a), 297 and 326 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. (NAN)
