Promotion

Lafia, Feb. 9, 2017 (NAN)  The Acting Chairman, Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, Mrs Zainab Mohammed, said plans had reached an advanced stage to promote all deserving civil servants in the state.

The chairman made this disclosure on Thursday while playing host to the state leadership of the Joint Public Negotiating Council in her office in Lafia.

She said that the State Government, through the commission, was doing everything possible to address the problem of promotion and other challenges confronting civil servants in the state.

“I assure you that very soon, all civil servants will have a cause to smile but the specific time is what we cannot say now; we are working round the clock to better your welfare.

“We are also working seriously to correct whatever abnormalities in the service in order to ensure better welfare for all workers,” she added.

Mohammed said that while the government was planning to promote the civil servants, they should also co-operate and support the government in its efforts to transform the state.

“I recall even when I was still the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), your leadership tabled these challenges before me and now that I am here, we are working to address them,” she said.

She, therefore, promised that the commission would not relent in carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with its mandate.

Earlier, Mr Sule Ode, the state Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, said the visit was to remind the commission on the issue of civil servants promotion, which was long overdue.

He expressed the hope that with the calibre of people now handling the affairs of the commission, better days awaited civil servants in the state.

“When civil servants receive regular promotions, they will be happy and it will go a long way to improve their productivity,” Ode said. (NAN)
