Akure, Feb. 8, 2017 (NAN) A commercial motorcyclist, Ahmed Junior, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle and one cell phone valued at N4,500.
Junior, 21, of no fixed address, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 16, 2016 at about 6.00 a.m. on Iboropa road, Ugbe, Ikare-Akoko area of Ondo State.
“He stole the Bajaj Motorcycle valued at N125,000 and one Tecno handset valued at N4,500 total value of N129,500 belonging to one Bello Soji,” Olowofeso said.
He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Ondo State Laws, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, granted the accused bail in the sum of N150,000 and one surety in like sum who must reside within the magisterial district.
Bob-Manuel also explained that there was no reason for the court to be inundated with cases outside its jurisdiction.
She consequently transferred the case to Ikare Magistrates’ Court for hearing on Feb. 21. (NAN)
