Moscow, Feb. 7, 2017 (dpa/NAN) Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Sports, Vitaly Mutko on Tuesday admitted that many Russian coaches are responsible for athletes using performance-enhancing drugs.

“Athletes were breaking the rules.

“Many coaches do not understand how to work without doping, and it’s already time for them to retire.

“All the athletes are under control. Everyone is being tested,” Mutko said.

Russian track and field athletes were banned from 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio amid widespread allegations of doping.

There were “very many violations’’ in the All-Russian Athletic Federation, Mutko said.

According to him, the federation now has new leadership, including a new head coach. (dpa/NAN)
