Akure, Feb. 7, 2017 (NAN) A suspect, David Nwamadu,23, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N120,000.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Adebiyi Abiodun, told the court that the accused conspired with another, who is still at large, and stole one Motorcycle, marked LEL 022 VK, property of one Umoru Abdulraheem.
Abiodun said that the accused committed the offence on Feb.4, at Kingsley kuku Street, Alagbaka extension, Akure at about 5 p.m.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 516, 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Abraham Yakubu, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
He assured the court that his client was ready to provide it with a reliable surety, who would ensure his appearance in court.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A Edwin granted the accused bail of N200,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
The magistrate said that the surety must be a resident within the jurisdiction of the court and provide evidence of tax payment to the State Internal Revenue for the current year.
She ruled that the accused and the surety must provide the court with two copies of their passport-sized photograph and their official and residential addresses which would be verified by the court.
The case was adjourned till Feb. 20. (NAN)
