Suleja (Minna) Feb.4, 2017(NAN) A Suleja based hotelier, Mr James Ariku has lamented that lack of electric supply from the public power source has negatively affected businesses in the area.
Ariku, who is the Manager, Goldtouch Hotel, Suleja, made the complaint in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Suleja.
According to him the development had seriously affected his business and and that of others adding this ‘led to a downturn in our businesses’ .
He appealed to the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to improve its power supply to residents.
Ariku told NAN that lack of constant power supply had crippled hotels business and other commercial activities in the area.
“We are operating at a loss as we are buying diesel at N265 per litre to be able to operate our businesses.
“If we are going to provide a 24-hour of light using our generators, we will need about 160 litres of diesel to do so at the cost of N42, 000 on monthly basis,” he said.
“How much are we charging per room, the highest is N5, 000 per day, hence the need for us to call on the electricity company to improve on its power supply to us from two-hours daily to at least seven hours per day.
“The unfortunate thing is that the management sends to us bills for power that we did not consume every month.
“If we fail to pay they disconnect us,” he said.( NAN)
