Abuja, Feb. 5, 2017(NAN) Mrs Catherine Rengkwar, Head Teacher, Maitama Local Authority Education (LEA) Model Primary School, has appealed to the Abuja Municipal Area Council to urgently undertake the renovation of the school.

Rengkwar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja that the administrative block of the school and some classes were no longer habitable.

She said that since the inception of the school in 1993, nothing had been done to give it a new look.

She, therefore, appealed to the FCT administration, NGOs, private sector organisations and other well-meaning Nigerians to rescue the school.

According to her, the chairs and tables are so old that they can no longer carry anything, while other learning materials are also not conducive for staff and pupils.

Meanwhile, the head teacher commended Tanscrop Hilton, ACE Foundation and other NGOs for renovating and equipping the nursery section of the school with basic learning materials.

According to her, the NGOs repainted the nursery block, provided Television sets, chairs, tables and decorated the classes for the comfort of the pupils.

“We need our children to learn in a conducive environment; that is why we are soliciting for help,” she said.

She emphasised that a school with such dilapidated structure does not befit the status of the Federal Capital Territory especially as it bears `model’ in its name.

NAN reports that the school is located in a highbrow area of Abuja. (NAN)
