Osogbo, May 15, 2017 (NAN) No fewer than 600 education marshals will be deployed to public schools in Osogbo, the Executive Chairman of Osun Education Quality Assurance and Morality Enforcement Agency, Dr Isiaka Owoade, has said.

Owoade, in a statement in Osogbo on Monday, said that the marshals would assist government in restoring sanity to the education system and enhance quality teaching in public schools.

He said the scheme, when fully constituted, would help curb all forms of indiscipline and moral decadence among pupils and teachers in public schools.

Owoade, who identified gross indiscipline, moral decadence and nonchalant attitude among students as factors militating against educational growth, said no effort would be spared to achieve  a high sense of discipline in public schools in the state.

He added that the marshals would be organised as foot patrol teams to monitor the streets in a bid to discourage truancy, loitering and other forms of anti-social behaviour  among pupils and students in public schools.

According to him, the marshals will also help in eliminating the human factors often  hampering  the smooth process of teaching and learning in  schools.

Owoade said the decision to create  education marshals  was  to ensure quality assurance in the education system so as to complement the huge investment made by the state government  in the sector.

He said the marshals would be trained on the relevant sections of  the Child Rights Act,  basic children psychology as well as ethical issues in dealing with children. (NAN)
