5,713 households benefit from Social Investment Programme in Nasarawa

Lafia, March 14, 2018 (NAN) The Federal Government has so far captured 5, 713 households in Nasarawa State under its Social Investment Programme targeted at the poor and vulnerable in the society.
Mr Magaji Amos, the state Head of Cash Transfer Unit of the programme, disclosed this on Wednesday in Lafia while distributing the N10, 000 monthly stipend to some beneficiaries.
Amos said that the programme was aimed at reducing hardship faced by the households as well as to reduce the level of poverty in the country.
He said the beneficiaries were selected from six out of the 13 local government areas of the state for the pilot scheme, assuring that the programme would be extended to the remaining seven local government areas soon.
Amos listed the beneficiary local government areas a Awe, Akwanga, Kokona, Wamba, Nassarawa-Eggon and Nasarawa.
He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money so that it could add value to their lives.
Mr Yahuza Idris, the Chairman, Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Lafia Local Government, commended the Federal Government for the gesture and prayed for its sustenance.
Idris also advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
A beneficiary, Mrs Hassana Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for introducing the programme and promised to utilise the money judiciously. (NAN)
