5,320 households to benefit from Fadama lll project in Yobe

Damaturu, Feb.13, 2017 (NAN) No fewer than 5,320 households in 14 Local Government Areas of Yobe are to benefit from the Fadama lll, additional financing, programme, supported by the World Bank and the Federal Government.

Alhaji Musa Garba, Yobe Fadama lll project coordinator, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Damaturu.

Garba said the programme was aimed at assisting victims of insurgency returning to their communities to restore their means of livelihood.

“We also conducted awareness programme to educate returnees on the dangers of Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs), Unexploded Ordinances (UXOs) and land mines,” he said.

The coordinator said Yobe government has paid N20 million to qualify and benefit for the programme.

“A total of 5,320 households in 133 communities from 14 local government areas would directly benefit from the project.

“In this regard, the National Fadama Coordination Office and the World Bank have cleared land in 20 communities for the programme ” Musa said.

He said the state Fadama Coordination office undertook baseline survey, NEEDS assessment and identification of benefitting communities.

The coordinator said the project distributed 27 units of tricycles and kits to facilitators to facilitate implementation of Community Action Plans (CAPs). (NAN)
