527 households to benefit from NEMA’s relief materials in Adamawa

Dirma (Adamawa), April 24, 2018 ( NAN) No fewer than 527 households affected by clashes  between farmers and herdsmen in Ditera District of Adamawa  are to benefit from  relief materials being distributed by  the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Alhaji Mustapha Maihaja, the NEMA Director General, represented by Mr Imam Abbani, the agency’s Coordinator-in-charge of Adamawa and Taraba, presented the items to the  affected communities in Dirma village on Tuesday.

Maihaja  said that the intervention was under the aegis of the  Muhammadu Buhari  administration’s  North East rebuilding initiative.

” Today, we are presenting this humanitarian intervention materials to about 527 households in five communities affected by last February’s  conflict between farmers and herdsmen.

” The materials are not meant to compensate for what was lost  but to assist in bringing succour to the affected persons,” Maihaja said.

He gave an assurance that  government’s efforts would bring  a permanent end  to the conflicts and halt   further  loss of lives and properties.

Receiving the items on behalf of the communities, Alhaji Yusuf Ahmadu, the District Head of Ditera,  thanked the Federal Government for its  intervention.

Ahmadu, who listed   the affected communities as Simba, Shiure,Tinde,Fulani and Tiya, pledged that the items would  reach  those they were meant for.

Items presented included  food stuff ,  building materials as well as  household utensils. (NAN)
