Ikeja, Aug. 23, 2018 (NAN) Five people including a girl, were on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly
belonging to a cult known as “Eiye” and “Aiye” confraternity.

The accused are 20-year-old girl, Mariam Abiola, Abidemi Adio, 40; Rasak Yusuf, 32; Fatal Amusa, 40; and Junior Irouka, 29.

The accused who are all residents of Ilasamaja, Lagos, are facing a three-count charge of breach of peace, conspiracy and belonging to
a secret cult.

The Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused and others still at large were arrested on July 13 at Ilasamaja,
Lagos.

According to him, the accused and their accomplices belong to unlawful societies — “Eiye and Aiye” confraternity.

“The accused who are members of the two rival cults clashed and caused panic in the neighbourhood and disturbed the peace of the
residents.

“The police who received a distress call, stormed the area and five persons were arrested while others escaped,” Ayorinde said.

The offences violated Sections 41, 168 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Section 41 stipulates seven years imprisonment for membership of an unlawful society while Section 411 prescribes two years
for conspiracy.

The accused denied the charges and were admitted to a N200, 000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who gave the ruling, said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two
years tax payment.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 28. (NAN)
