4 men docked for allegedly constituting public nuisance

Abuja, Aug. 16, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Thursday arraigned four men in a Karshi Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly constituting public nuisance within Karu, Abuja, and its environs.
The defendants: Adamu Aminu, 35, Sadiq Yau, 20, Stephen David, 26, and Hadiza Adamu, 35, of no fixed addresses, are being tried for constituting public nuisance and idleness.
The prosecutor, Babatunde Adeyanju, told the court that a team of policemen attached to Karu Police Station, led by ASP Gariel Onuh, arrested the defendants on Aug. 1.
According to him, following intelligent reports on criminal activities within the area, at about 1.a.m., the team raided a black-spot within Karu.
He added that the defendants were using the black-spot to perpetrate evil acts and carrying out all manner of criminal activities in the area.
Adeyanju informed the court that during police investigation, the defendants could not give satisfactory account of themselves.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 198 and 406 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Aliyu Kagarko, granted the defendants N30, 000 bail each, with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until Sept. 5 for hearing. (NAN)
