Ikeja, April 5, 2018 (NAN) Four men — Chima Richard, Abdulahi Gambo, Nazeep Abubakar and Dayo Michael — who allegedly robbed two men of their valuables valued at N4.17 million
at gunpoint, were on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused — Richard, 20; Gambo, 24; Abubakar, 25; and Michael, 20 — are facing charges of conspiracy, unlawful display of arms, belonging to an unlawful society and robbery.

Police Prosecutor Clement Okuoimose told the court that the accused committed the offences with some other persons now at large on Dec.14 at Baruwa in Ipaja, a Lagos suburb.

He said the accused armed themselves with guns and other dangerous weapons and robbed the complainants, Mr Ajibola Akinlade and Mr Bankole Brown, of their valuables
worth N4.17 million.

Okuoimose said the accused entered the complainants’ shops with dangerous weapons and carted away electronic goods and phones.

“The accused robbed Akinlade of his electronic goods valued at N2. 59 million and robbed Brown of phones valued at N1. 57 million.

“One of the phones was later recovered from a girl who claimed that her brother, one of the accused persons gave her.

“The accused was arrested and he led the police to other accused persons,” he said.

Okuoimose alleged the accused also belong to unlawful society called “Eiye” confraternity.

The offences contravened Sections 40, 51, 287, 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 297 stipulates a 21-year imprisonment for offenders.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Akokia, remanded the accused in Kirikiri Prisons and ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public
Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Akokia adjourned the case until May 7 for mention. (NAN)
