Berlin, Aug. 9, 2017 (dpa/NAN) The leaders of Germany, France, Italy and Spain will meet in Versailles on Aug. 28 to discuss refugee and migration, Ulrike Demmer, the spokesman of German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday in Berlin.

Demmer said that French President Emmanuel Macron had invited Merkel, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy to the talks.

He said that other issues not related to   migration would be on the agenda.

Last week, Merkel spoke with Gentiloni on phone about the root causes of migration.

The German leader had spoken of her intention to partner African nations to stabilise the political situation in Libya, the main departure point for migrants setting sail for Europe.

Merkel has scheduled a meeting on Friday with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi and William Lacy Swing, the Director-General for the International Organisation for Migration on Friday. (dpa/NAN)
