Dutse, Oct. 28, 2017 (NAN) The Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA) in Birninkudu Local Government Council of Jigawa says it has provided anti-malarial drugs to 30 health facilities in the area.

The agency’s Manager, Alhaji Sani Barde, disclosed this on Saturday through the Information Officer in charge of the area, Alhaji Mustafa Namadi.

Barde said the drugs would be distributed free of charge to pregnant women and children.

He explained that the gesture was aimed at curtailing the spread of malaria among women and children in the area.

The manager warned health personnel to desist from diverting the drugs, and called on pregnant women to visit the facilities for routine immunisation.

In a related development, the Gwaram Local Government Council said it had donated anti-malarial drugs worth N150,000 to Kila Boarding Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.

Malam Nasiru Yusif, the Information Officer of the council, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Yusif said that the council’s Chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Shehu, disclosed this when the Principal of the school, Alhaji Muhammad Mai-unguwa, visited him on.

He explained that Shehu also affirmed the commitment of the council to improve healthcare services in the area.

The spokesman added that Mai-unguwa commended the council for the gesture and promised to make good use of the drugs. (NAN)
