Lagos, April 10, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced three men to 10 days community service each for stealing a Nokia phone valued at N17,000.
The accused — Quadri Yusuf, 25; Samson Oyedipo, 19; and Segun Abiodun, 20 — who all reside in Ayobo, a Lagos suburb, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.I Raji, did not give them an option of fine.

Raji held that the community service would be carried out in Ikeja Local Government Area.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. George Nwosu, the trio and one other person still at large conspired and stole the Nokia phone from Mr Timilehin Olowoseye.

He said that the incident occurred on March 26 at 8:30p.m. on Adeyeye Street, Alaja, Ayobo.
Nwosu said that the convicts stopped the accused on the road and demanded money or beer from him.

“The complainant gave them the only N300.00 in his pocket but they were not satisfied.

“They snatched his phone, jumped on a motorcycle and speed off.
“The complainant raised an alarm, and they were pursued and arrested but one of them escaped.
“The phone was recovered,” he said.
The offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, according to the prosecutor. (NAN)
