Lagos, April 3, 2018 (NAN) Three security guards — Christopher Usoh, Mfon Afiakurue, and Akpan Monday, 32 — who allegedly stole armoured cables valued at N2 million belonging to their employer , were on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The accused — Christopher Usoh, 40; Mfon Afiakurue, 48; and Akpan Monday, 32 — who all reside at Alagbado, a suburb of Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, the accused committed the offences on March 28 at Prime Pak Industries Nigeria Ltd, Alakuko, Lagos.
Akeem said the armoured cables valued at N2 million, property of their employer, were stolen from the company’s store.
“The accused were on duty when the armoured cables were missing; the management arrested them and handed them over to the police.”
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes seven years imprisonment for clerks or assistants who steal from their employers.
The accused, however, denied the charges.
Chief Magistrate Jadesola Adeyemi granted the accused N100, 000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 16 for mention. (NAN)
