3 men in court for allegedly stealing food items worth N393,000

Akure, Feb. 7, 2017 (NAN) Three men were on Tuesday arraigned in an Akure Magistrates’ Court for alleged stealing food items worth N393,000.
The defendants- Gbenga Adeloye, 22, Bidemi Victor, 18 and Ojo Odunayo, 19, allegedly committed the offences on Dec.19, 2016, between 12.30 a.m. and 2.30 a.m. opposite Calvary Junction, Oda Road, Akure.
The prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the defendants broke into shops and stole the items.
“They conspired and broke into the shops of Adejoke Chindero, Omotayo Olahanmi, Agnes Emaye, Ogunleye Olayemi, and Opeyemi Olaniyi.
“They also stole rice, meat, vegetables, plantain, yam, red oil, maggi, spaghetti and soft drinks, value at N60,000 belonging to Agnes Emaye.
“Various food items worth N30,000 were also stolen from Ogunleye Olayemi, while six big sized crates of soft drinks, shoes and some other things valued at N300,000 belonging to Adejoke Chindero were stolen,” Olowofeso said.
The three accused persons pleaded not guilty to the 10-count charge bordering on conspiracy, breaking, entering and stealing levelled against them.
Olowofeso explained that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9) of Ondo State Laws, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each and one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case till March 21 for hearing. (NAN)
