Lagos, Jan. 16, 2017 (NAN) For allegedly stealing his employer’s car valued at N25 million, a 29-year-old driver, John Ngbede, and two other suspected accomplices on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The other accused–Vincent Patrick, 24, and Gabriel Ezioka, 24, all unemployed, reside in Lekki, a suburb of Lagos.
They are facing a two- count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 24 at Victoria Garden City, Ajah, a suburb of Lagos.
Inuoha said that the first accused, Ngbede, conspired with his friends to steal a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle worth N25million and belonging to his employer, Mr Ralph Obinna.
“The accused were on their way out of Lagos when they were caught by the police at a check point.
“They were apprehended at the spot, ” he said.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 285(10) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case till March 2 for mention. (NAN)
