Abuja, May 16, 2018 (NAN) A 28-year-old man, Sunday Achineku, was on Wednesday sentenced to four months imprisonment by a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for stealing a mobile telephone worth N27, 000.
The Judge, Abubakar Sadiq, said since the accused had pleaded guilty to the charge, the court had no option than to sentence him accordingly.
He, however, gave the convict N10, 000 option of fine and also ordered that the recovered telephone should be returned to the owner.
Sadiq warned him to be of good behaviour and desist from committing crimes after serving out the punishment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Achineku, who resides in Apo Estate, Abuja, was charged for stealing under Section 288 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Okagha, had informed the court that on May 11, one Oluwakemi Olarawaju of Librex Plaze, Utako, reported the case at Utako Police Station.

She said the convict intentionally and smartly entered the complainant’s office and stole the phone.
Okagha added that the convict was later caught with the phone.
She said that the convict made a confessional statement during police investigation, admitting that he committed the offence.
