Kube (Nasarawa State), April 19, 2018 (NAN) Mr Christopher Jatau, the Uehra Ashea of Kube Chiefdom in Nasarawa State, has urged eligible subjects and other Nigerians to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the 2019 general elections.

Jatau, who is a second class traditional ruler, made the call on Thursday in interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in his palace in Kube, Panda Development Area of the Nasarawa State.

He said that the importance of PVCs in any election cannot be over-emphasised, hence the need for eligible Nigerians to register and collect the cards to exercise their franchise, as well as ensure good governance in the country.

He added that “the PVC is your right to vote and to be voted for and I urge my eligible subjects and other Nigerians who are yet to register with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  to do so and collect their cards.

“It is only with the card you can vote leaders of your choice and leaders of proven integrity during the 2019 election.”

Jatau also called on Nigerians, especially youths, not to allow themselves to be used by politicians as agents of destruction during and after the 2019 general elections.

He also urged politicians to shun politics of bitterness and acrimony for a better Nigeria.

The traditional ruler charged politicians to unite, irrespective of their party differences and play politics according to the rules in the interest of peace and national development.

According to him, politics devoid of bitterness and rancour will go a long way in promoting peace and development.

“I want to use this medium to call on politicians to play politics devoid of blackmail and bitterness. They should not see politics as do-or-die affair.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious
and political differences, for the overall development of the country.

“Peace is priceless, non-negotiable and is the necessary requirement for development, hence the need for various ethnic groups to embrace peace,” Jatau said. (NAN)
