Politicians
By Toba Ajayi
Ilorin, April 5, 2018 (NAN) An Ilorin-based lawyer, Mr Kunle Ige, has advised politicians to play the game according to the rules as the country prepares for 2019 elections.
Ige gave the advice in Ilorin on Thursday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said Nigerian politicians must do away with win- at-all-cost mentality before the upcoming elections.
The lawyer advised politicians and political players to display enough maturity by tolerating opposing views to enrich the electoral process.
‘‘It is time to say no to hate campaign, no to use of political thugs and no to assassination of opponents.
‘‘Politicians must see it as a game where it is expected to win or lose.
‘‘Politicians must emulate the western world approach where politics is being played maturely, instead of kidnapping and killing that is more rampant in our own political style,’’ he said.
He, however, advised political stakeholders through their political parties to orientate party members on how to play politics in a more friendly way. (NAN)
