2019: Kwara South leaders call for teamwork

Omu-Aran (Kwara) April 15, 2018 (NAN) Leaders in Kwara South Senatorial District have identified team work and sacrifice as panacea to achieving victory during the 2019 General Elections.

They stated this in a communiqué signed by Mr Samuel Daramola and Alhaji Niyi Abioye at the end of a one-day summit held at Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area.

The summit, geared toward charting the way forward for political development in the district and tagged: Aro-Meta Political Summit, had the theme: “Kwara South: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.“

It stated that lack of quality representation at both the Executive and Legislative arms of government was responsible for the district’s underdevelopment.

It called on all indigenes of the area to work with other developmental individuals and groups in putting an end to politics of godfatherism and dynastic politics.

The leaders enjoined the people to unite and collaborate with other stakeholders in moving the district forward adding that dividends of democracy have continued to elude the three ethnic groups, namely; Ibolo, Ekiti and Igbomina since 2003 till date.

“This is the only way we can achieve enthronement of good governance at all levels,” the statement said.

The leaders called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to correct the lapses in the ongoing voter’s registration exercise, especially as it affected the district.

“The electorates are also enjoined register to be able to exercise their civil rights without hindrance,” the statement added. (NAN)
