Abuja, July 17, 2018 (NAN) Mr Musa Elayo, Former Minister of State for Justice, has called on Nigerian youths not to allow themselves be used as thugs by politicians in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Elayo, who was minister during the time of President Olusegun Obasanjo, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that youths were more prone to perpetrating violence during election and commit political crimes but if they shun such behaviour elections would be peaceful and violence free.
According to him, politics is a game and not a war that needed thugs in its processes.
“Nobody should encourage violence, politics is a game not a war, all people that encourage and use youths as thugs should desist from it.
“I want to also advice the youths that whoever lures them to be thugs, they should ask the person to use his or her own child.’’
Elayo also called for more women participation in politics, stating that they should be active and pick forms for political positions.
“Women should be active by picking forms and supporting their own anytime they run for offices.
“They must show more interest in politics, it is high time Nigerian women sought positions of vice presidency and other top offices,’’ he said.(NAN)
