Lagos, Sept. 1, 2017 (NAN) Ex- internationals on Friday urged the Super Eagles to exhibit the same zeal in their second leg 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Cameroon.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the the Super Eagles of Nigeria thrashed the Indomitable Lion of Cameron by 4-0 in their first leg match on Friday in Uyo.
The former players commended the team for the outright victory against the Africa defending champion, Cameroon.
Etim Esim, an ex-international told NAN that the team should showcase the same winning mentality against Cameroon in their second leg match.
“Those that mattered were invited for the encounter and it paid off, the players performance was exceptional and they played like a team.
“Every player will love to play in the World Cup and the performance of the players shows that they are hungry for the biggest football fiesta.
“The selection of players was not based on sentiment but rather on experience and the ability of the players, I hope our coaches and players will continue this way in their next match,” he said.
Felix Owolabi, an Ex-Green Eagles player said that the players should approached the second leg match with the same enthusiasm in Cameroon.
Owolabi said the second leg encounter would not be an easy task for the Super Eagles, adding that the Indomitable Lion would be fierce at home.
“The players played with a high enthusiasms and they should maintain the same in Cameroon because it will not be an easy encounter.
“They should play with the same zeal not be complacency, a draw in Cameroon will seal it for us, ” he said.
The second leg match between the two countries will come up on Sept. 4.
Nigeria is in Group B alongside Algeria , Zambia, Cameroon in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. (NAN)
