2018 Budget: Bwari Area Council Chairman assents to N4.7bn

Bwari (Abuja), Feb. 27, 2018 (NAN) The Chairman Bwari Area Council, Mr Musa Dikko, on Tuesday in Abuja, signed the council’s 2018 budget proposal of N4.7 billion before members of the Council’s Legislative and Executive.

Dikko signed the document after the Legislative Council approved and presented the proposed budget to him in Bwari.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the council recently presented its 2018 budget proposal of over N4.7 billion before the members of the Council’s Legislative.

The council earmarked N2.4 billion for capital expenditure, with Works and Housing gaining the highest amount of N1, 046,311,952, followed by Finance and Accounts with N822,795,497.

The proposed budget also had an estimate of N680 million for Health and Human Services and N308 million for Education and Social development.

The chairman, who commended the Legislative Council for the speedy approval of the proposal, noted that the action would go down the history lane.

He reiterated that the budget tagged: “Budget of Consolidation; the peoples Budget”, intends to meet the needs of the people of the council area.

According to him, this has not been done since the past 20 years that a budget proposal is being approved within 18 days.

“It shows commitment and the zeal this council has for the people to be relieved. It is surely, the right thing to be done by the right people.

“I urge that we all help the executive by working together to implement this budget to actualise the hopes of the people.

“I promise you that justice shall be done to this budget, for the people,’’ he said.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Council’s Legislative, Mr Iliya Femu, while presenting the proposed budget to the Executive Council said that the decision to speedily approve the proposal was for the sake of the people of the community.

According to him, the action, after going through much deliberation, was done in line with the change agenda of the present administration which intends to give the people dividends of democracy.

Femu, however, urged the executive council to do justice to the appropriation.

He also prayed that the economy of the country improves from its present status to actualise the budget and achieve the set goals of the council’s administration. (NAN)
