2016 flood: Agency disburses N4.3m to victims in Jigawa

Dutse, Jan. 23, 2017 (NAN) The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Jigawa  says  it has  disbursed N4.3 million to victims of  the 2016 flood disaster in Babura Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the agency, Malam Sagir Nayaya, said this  in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse.

Nayaya said that the amount was disbursed to 502 victims whose rooms were destroyed in  the disaster which affected  16 villages in  the council.

The spokesperson, who said N5, 000 was given for each the 860 rooms destroyed,  warned residents to desist from acts capable of causing flood.

According to him, the gesture is part of the state government’s intervention initiative  to assist the victims.

Nayaya urged the victims  to consider the gesture as a form of  assistance and not compensation. (NAN)
