Lagos Sept. 7, 2017 (NAN) A 20-year-old student, Adeyemi Oluwatosin, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into an apartment and stealing two phones worth N185,000.
Oluwatosin, who resides at No. 46 Owoduni St., Ilupeju,, Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge of housebreaking and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
At the arraignment of the accused, Police Prosecutor Victor Eruada told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 15 at No. 67, Owoduni St., Ilupeju.
According to him, the accused entered the apartment of the complainant, Mr Oroge Abidemi, and stole an iPhone 6T valued at N17,000 and one BlackBerry valued at N15,000.
“The accused was caught in the act by the complainant’s neighbour and was immediately apprehended.”
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be sentenced to a minimum of three years on conviction, according to the criminal law.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, admitted the accused to a bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for mention. (NAN)
