Lagos, May 28, 2018(NAN) Two security guards who allegedly stole a cell phone valued at N85,000 were on Monday arraigned by the police in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The defendants, Anthony Ugbe, 28 and Jida Abubakar, 36, and reside at Oregun, Ikeja, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo told the court that the offences were committed on May 18 at 62, Obafemi Awolowo way, Oregun, Ikeja.
Odugbo said that the defendants were standing in front of Mrs Kemi Owoeye, the complainant’s shop, when she noticed that her mobile phone was missing.
He said that the complainant, Mrs Kemi Owoeye was in her shop when she heard a noise from outside; she left the shop, leaving the defendants in front of the place and went to see what the noise was about.
“Upon her return, the defendants had disappeared and her mobile phone valued at N85, 000 was missing, “he said.
Odugbo said that the defendants were later arrested.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. K Matepo granted the defendants bail of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.
Matepo however, adjourned the case until June 25 for mention. (NAN)
