Ile-Ife (Osun), Jan. 17, 2017 (NAN) Two suspected housebreakers — Micheal Ojo and Azeez Wasiu — were on Tuesday remanded in prison in Osun over alleged theft of motorcycle valued at N185,000.
The accused: Ojo, 31, and Wasiu, 19, are facing charges of forceful entrance, housebreaking and stealing at an Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
In her ruling, Magistrate Iyabo Salami refused the accused bail and ordered that the duo should be kept behind bars at Ile-Ife Prisons.
“It will serve as a lesson to other youths, who have taken to stealing.”
The offences, according to Police Prosecutor Emmanuel Abdullahi, were committed on Jan. 16 at about 3.00 a.m. at No. 39, Esindale St., Ile-Ife.
“The accused broke into the house of Jimoh Akinborode through the window and stole his motorcycle with registration no. AKD 399 QG valued at N185,000.
The offences violated Sections 383, 390 (9), 412 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The defence counsel, Mr Ben Adiereje, had applied for bail for the accused on liberal terms, promising “they will not jump bail.”
Further hearing has been fixed for Jan. 31. (NAN)
