2 men in court over alleged theft of valuables worth N177, 000

Lagos , Feb. 8, 2017 (NAN) Two men who allegedly broke into a furniture shop and stole an air conditioner and other items worth N177,000, were on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Yinka Olowe, 29, and Rafiu Adedeji, 35, of no fixed addresses, pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing, preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused and other still at large committed the offences on Jan. 25 at Shyllon Street, Ilupeju Area of Lagos State.

According to him, the accused and others at large broke into Mr Chuks Ebuka’s workshop and stole items such as air conditioner and N138,000 cash.

He put the value of stolen items at N177,000.

Eruada said that the defendants and their accomplices gained entrance into the workshop after removing the air conditioner.

The prosecutor explained that the burglary protector around the air conditioner was forcefully removed and the hoodlums entered the workshop through the space.

He said that the offences contravened Sections, 307,410 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 t each  and  two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 15 for mention. (NAN)
