2 men in court over alleged theft of items worth N317, 000

Lagos , March 1, 2017 (NAN) Two men, Saheed Etti, and Damilola Olaoye, who allegedly burgled a house and stole items worth N317,000, were on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Etti, 33, and Olaoye, 21, whose addresses were not given, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 12 at Karonwi Street in Abule- Egba area of Lagos State.

Eruada said that the accused persons broke into one Mr Ekundayo Francis’s residence and stole items such as washing machine, electric kettle, LG plasma television, a gold chain and a wrist watch.
He alleged that the defendants destroyed a window to gain entry into the house.

“The burglary protector was forcefully removed and the accused entered the house and stole the items,” he said.

The offences contravened Sections, 285, 307 and409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The defendants denied committing the offences.
Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each and two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till March 8 for mention. (NAN)
