Abuja, June 20, 2018 (NAN) Two men- Precious Michael, 22, and Michael Williams, 18, were on Wednesday docked in a Karu Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for alleged joint act and mischief, but granted bail in the sum N250, 000 each.

The judge, Hafsat Aliyu, also ordered the defendants to produce two sureties in like sum, as part of the bail condition and adjourned the case until July 4, for hearing.

The defendants were arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on joint act, mischief and attempt to commit theft, an offence they denied committing.

The prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Christian Chukwu of Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, Abuja, on June 6, around 10:p.m.

He said that the complainant alleged that on same date, the defendants jointly conspired, and trespassed into his shop and removed his air-conditioner burglary, valued at N15, 000.

Osuji also informed the court that the defendants attempted to steal the air-conditioner before they were arrested.

“During police investigation, both defendants confessed to have committed the said offence,’’ he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 79, 327 and 95 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
