Lagos, July 6, 2017 (NAN) Two men — Anuoluwa Yemi and Hammed Haruna — who attempted to abduct and steal some
children, on Thursday appeared before an Ebute Meta chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused — Yemi, 22, and Hammed Haruna, 21 — whose addresses are unknown, are facing child stealing charge.
They, however, pleaded innocence of the offence.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that Ayeni committed the offence on June 28 at 1.30 p.m. at Olumide
Awosanya Street at Ojokoro Village near Ikorodu.
She said Haruna also attempted to steal a child on the same day at Abattoir market in Agege.
“The accused persons were caught while attempting to steal some children in Ikorodu and Agege.”
The offence, according to Omisakin, contravenes Section 275 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence carries a penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, admitted the duo to a bail of N300,000 with two responsible sureties
in like sum and adjourned further hearing in the case until Aug. 9. (NAN)
